Description
This regulation applies to all buildings except detached one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses with up to three stories. The 2018 IBC introduces several significant updates, including: Accessory Storage Areas: These can now be classified under the same occupancy as the primary use of the building. New Code Sections: Provisions have been added for medical gas systems and laboratories in higher education settings. Fire Walls: Their use is now limited to defining appropriate construction types based on allowable building area and height. Elevator Hoistways: When a hoistway door opens into a fire-resistant corridor, the opening must be secured to prevent smoke from entering the hoistway.
